Guitar legend Marty Friedman played the Whisky A Go Go February 22nd. From 1990 to 2000 guitarist Marty Friedman was a member of Thrash-Metal titans Megadeth and a member of their classic era lineup with Dave Mustaine, David Ellefson, and Nick Menza. This lineup would release four albums together including Rust In Peace and Countdown to Extinction. In 2023 Friedman would reunite with Mustaine and the current Megadeth performing three songs at Budokan in Japan. Friedman has been a resident of Tokyo since 2003. Friedman’s first solo album was released just two years before joining Megadeth and in total has released 18 albums between studio and live. Friedman’s latest release Drama (2024) was the first to be released on Frontiers Music.
Friedman played a set over 90 mins with Nikki Stringfield and Patrick Kennison. Friedman played a set including Megadeth’s “Tornado of Souls” and “Amagigoe” and solo songs “Dragon Mistress,”Deep End,” “Angel,” “Monophony,” and “Hyper Doom.”
