A rush of anger is oozing out of New York City, New York, from a dark yet passionate hard rock band named Joel Hoekstra’s 13. This eerie hard rock band consists of legendary rock veterans Joel Hoekstra and Tony Franklin who are both former members of Whitesnake. This powerful brand of bombastic hard rock is reminiscent of the thundering hard rock melodies that made fans go wild during the 1980’s. This dark tale of lies and deceit will be on full display with the band’s ominous upcoming album “Crash of Life” which will be released on June 16, 2023 featuring twelve gut wrenching tracks that will make listeners feel like the world is caving in on them.
The world is coming to a violent end in the thunderous track “Everybody Knows Everything” This track features snarling vocals and blistering hard rock melodies that sound like Godzilla is causing chaos throughout a crowded city and destroying everything in his wake. This track is a scathing tale about an angry man who is tired of everyone around him claiming to know exactly how he feels and offering advice which makes him angrier because they are not actually living his life. Those around him are only making assumptions because they have not been in the tough situations that he has had to deal with. Meanwhile, the thunder continues to roll in the brooding track “Torn into Lies.” This track features groaning vocals and scorching hard rock melodies that sound like a man who is writhing in pain while suffering through a severe sunburn in the sweltering heat of summer while his heart is being ripped out of his chest This track is a heartbreaking tale about a caring man who realizes that he has been taken for a fool by his former girlfriend. Now, the caring man is watching his former girlfriend move on with her life as if their relationship never existed. So, the caring man is sitting at home alone drowning in a pool of sorrow.
Next, the rolling thunder slows down to a chilling rain in the eerie track “Over You.” This track features haunting vocals and moaning hard rock melodies that sound like a ghost is yowling inside of a troubled man’s mind. This track is a reflective tale about a heartbroken man who is slowly pulling himself out of the depths of despair after a painful breakup. The heartbroken man knows that his life will improve as time passes and he leaves his heartache in the rearview mirror. Finally, the world looks a lot brighter in the passionate track “You’re Right for Me.” This track features sultry vocals and pulsating hard rock melodies that sound like a nervous heartbeat. This track is a steamy tale about a man who is happy to spend time with a beautiful woman who truly enjoys his company after enduring years of heartache.
