Well, it has been said that what is old is new again. This is true for an in-your-face hard rock duo out of Los Angeles, California named Russell-Guns. These two veteran rockers are from the sunset strip era of the late 1980’s Great White and L.A. Guns. Now, these two veteran rockers want to push a heaviersound out to the younger generation of hard rock fans with a lot less flash, but a lot more grit with the release of their brutal album “Medusa” which will be released on January 12, 2024 featuring eleven heart wrenching tracks that will seem like one endless nightmare caused by intense heartache.
The endless nightmare begins with a heavy dose of optimism bursting out of a restless man’s heart in the sultry track “Next in Line.” This track features gritty vocals and scorching hard rock melodies that sound like a restless man whose blood is boiling at the sight of a beautiful woman. This track is a sizzling tale about a restless man who is mesmerized by the beautiful woman. So, the restless man is desperately trying to attract the attention of the beautiful woman no matter what it could cost him. Meanwhile, optimism turns into a state of confusion in the anxiety ridden track “Where I Belong.” This track features moaning vocals and brooding hard rock melodies that sound like a panic-stricken man who is literally being ripped apart at the seams by those who said that they cared about him when they really did not. This track is a soul bearing tale about a lonely man who is struggling to find his place in society because those around are always pointing out his faults. However, when the lonely man goes back home, he finds himself back in the arms of the woman who loves him unconditionally.
Finally, the endless nightmare comes to emotionally torturous end in the frightening track “Medusa.” This track features haunting vocals and eerie hard rock melodies that sound like a snake is hissing and choking the breath out of a stunned man. This track is a shocking tale about a once loving man who had fallen hopelessly in love with a beautiful woman. However, the once loving man’s dreams were shattered when he suddenly realized that the beautiful woman, he once loved was loved was pure evil and she had been lying to him throughout their entire relationship. Therefore, the once loving man’s heart turned into stone and he vowed to never believe again.
Russell-Guns is an awesome hard rock duo who proves that two rock and roll veterans are not afraid to push musical boundaries with coarse vocals and stinging hard rock melodies that will surely rupture one’s eardrums. The release of their abrasive album “Medusa” will pull listeners away from the glamorous mindset that engulfed southern California in the late 1980’s into a much darker mindset that fits in with the current mindset of today’s society which says watch your back looks can be deceiving.
