Legendary New York band Anthrax, a member of The Big Four (Metallica, Slayer, Anthrax, Megadeth) that pioneered the speed/thrash metal genre, will be Inducted into the Hall of Heavy Metal History at the Heavy Montreal music festival on Sunday, July 28, 2019. Metal Hall of Fame President/CEO Pat Gesualdo, and Jimmy Kay will induct the band in a special induction ceremony at the festival.
Hall of Heavy Metal History President/CEO Pat Gesualdo says, “We are looking forward to inducting Anthrax, one of the four bands to pioneer the speed/thrash metal genre, into the Metal Hall of Fame at Heavy Montreal.” Anthrax follows up on some of the Hall’s recent inductions including Judas Priest “The Metal Queen” Doro Pesch, and Uriah Heep, among others.
Inductees awarded in previous years include Ronnie James Dio, Judas Priest, Jon and Marsha Zazula (By Metallica) Randy Rhoads, Lemmy Kilmister, Scorpions, co-founding member of Black Sabbath Bill Ward, Billy Sheehan, Jordan Rudess, Ross “The Boss” Friedman, Nick Menza, Saxon, Iconic industry executive Munsey Ricci, Exodus, and many more.
