Great Lefty: Live Forever! Tribute to Tony Iommi Godfather of Metal

There are quite a few tribute bands playing just about everywhere and all the time these days. It’s really becoming larger and larger, but don’t be fooled. There is as much dedication needed to be in a successful tribute band as there is in being in an original band. In order to be in a tribute band, there needs to be a real fire inside of you. it’s an obsession of sorts. Try listening to the same song a few times a day for the next 30 years. Every time you listen to that song, you listen intensely for that one little guitar part or that one vocal scream and it’s still just as amazing to you as the first time you heard the song, then you can begin to understand the level of dedication and commitment these musicians have put in.

Imagine loving a band and their music so much that all you want to do is play it and over. Then, one day, you get a shot to really show just how much you love the music by going into the studio and recording your best version of your bands best track in honor of your heroes.

For “Great Lefty”, these aren’t your average tribute bands on this CD collection — these are the Best of the Best in Black Sabbath tribute bands brought together from all the corners of the world.

Produced by Damon Elliot, Michael Politz and Mike Exeter with musicians ranging from friends, fans and well-known artists – all in tribute to Tony Iommi.

The level of production shows that they were all business in the studio, but you can also feel the friendship and camaraderie by the way they had fun with their own interpretation of these great songs. And all of the bands donated the tracks to the CD and all profits are going to Macmillan Cancer Support, which shows true “Tribute” in honor of Tony Iommi in his first ever dedication.

Black Sabbath has been in my top 3 of all time since I was 12. My mom bought me my first tape “We Sold Our Souls for Rock and Roll” and it’s been “game-on” ever since. I know and love all of these songs very well. Listening to this release was refreshing and prodigious. For me, Never Say Die was the best track of all, then Heaven and Hell. And I really liked Orchid, too. If you love the Great Black Sabbath, go get this Great CD.
